Tazara M.C. Fields, Esq.

AttorneY
Twyla L. Sketchley, J.D., B.C.S. — Founding Attorney, Sketchley Law Firm, Tallahassee, FL

Tazara M.C. Fields doesn’t just practice law; she’s spent time on the front lines, first as a patrol officer with the Florida State University Police Department and later as a reserve deputy in Wakulla County. With certifications in “Street Survival” and “Narcotic Surveillance,” she brings a level of grit to elder law that most attorneys only see on television. Now an Associate Attorney at The Sketchley Law Firm, P.A., she focuses on probate, guardianship, special needs planning, long-term care planning and estate planning—proving that whether she’s patrolling or navigating a courtroom, she’s developed a very specific set of skills—and none of them involve being a pushover.

Tazara earned her Juris Doctor from the Florida State University College of Law, where she focused on elder and public interest law while holding enough leadership titles to fill a small book. Her time at FSU wasn’t just about titles, though; she also worked deep in the advocacy trenches at FSU’s Public Interest Law Center. During her work with PILC she tackled everything from child dependency to elder law cases with the kind of intensity that you’d expect from a former cop. These cases earned her several distinctions and laid the foundation for her commitment to protecting the rights of the most vulnerable members of our community. During her tenure with the Public Interest Law Center’s Human Trafficking Project, Tazara collaborated with a dedicated team to champion critical legislative change. Their efforts successfully led to the passage of a mandate requiring Florida educators and school personnel to complete specialized training to identify the warning signs of human trafficking to help protect our vulnerable students. From investigating “The Grandma Hustle” to championing critical civil rights, Tazara’s commitment to her community is as unshakable as her legal research.

Tazara’s resume includes a laundry list of degrees that keep her office walls looking very official. When she is not translating legalese into plain English for her clients or contributing to The Florida Bar Elder Law Section Newsletter, she remains a dedicated advocate for equality and representation. Her leadership experiences range from serving as President of OUTLaw at FSU to coaching U14 soccer teams, which, honestly aren’t as different as you’d think, as both require a whistle and a lot of patience. Tazara remains deeply involved in the Florida legal and civic community. She is a proud board member of the FSU Pride Alumni Network and serves on the Steering Committee for Equality Florida’s Tallahassee Gala.

Whether she’s patrolling, lobbying for legislative shifts or helping her clients, her mission remains the same: ensuring the “front lines” are actually equipped to protect the people who need it most. When she isn’t advocating for her clients and vulnerable populations, Tazara enjoys a vibrant life in Tallahassee with her husband, their two children, their German Shepherd, and two adorable cats. You can often find her lost in a good book, binging a new favorite TV series, or hitting the links for a round of golf with her husband.
