We don’t mean to brag but Twyla Lawrene Sketchley is an award-winning attorney serving the needs elders, vulnerable adults, persons with disabilities, and their families throughout Florida. She is a Florida Bar Board Certified Elder Law Specialist that has been recognized by her peers for her community service work and her pro bono service. She is a Florida Super Lawyer and a member of Florida’s Legal Elite.

In addition to providing traditional legal services, Twyla also works to educate attorneys, professionals, and the public regarding the issues that confront elders and their caregivers. She speaks nationally about the difficult and emotionally charged representation of elders and vulnerable adults who have been financially and personally exploited and abused. Licensed in both Florida and Montana, she has a passion for ending the maltreatment, harm, and abuse of these vulnerable populations. She serves as both a guiding light for addressing these challenges to the public, guardians, social workers, professionals and more, through her endeavor, The Sketchley Method, and as an expert witness in legal cases in this area.
Twyla is active in the legal profession, promoting and improving elder law. She is the past president of The Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys (AFELA) (2017), the Past Chair of The Florida Bar Elder Law Section (2012-2013), and an Emeritus Member of the Florida Task Force for the Elderly and Disabled. She serves as a mentor attorney for the AFELA Mentoring Committee. She is the Chair of the Elder Law Section’s Guardianship Committee and a member of the Elder Law Section’s Legislative Committee. She is also member of the National Academy of Elder Attorneys and the American Bar Association. You may have heard her on WFSU during her weekly Elder Law Issues each Friday.
